What "one year of updates" means
It means the version you bought is yours permanently, and every version released in the twelve months after your purchase is included. After that, the app you have keeps working exactly as it did — it simply stops accepting newer releases until you renew. Nothing is taken away, and no project ever becomes unopenable.
What the two tiers are really dividing
The line is not a feature count, it is a job description. Valendo is the teleprompter for one person working at one machine: the script, the timing, the marks, and the presenter's screen. Studio is what a production adds — other devices, other media, and other people on camera.
Naming a presenter sits in Studio for that reason: a presenter name only exists when more than one person is reading, and more than one person reading is what makes it a production. Someone working alone never needs to say who speaks.
The trial, and what happens when it ends
Fifteen days with everything unlocked, starting the first time you open the app. No account, no email, no card, and nothing to cancel.
When it ends, opening, editing and saving your projects is never blocked. Neither is importing a script or sending it to a second monitor. Everything else in the table above locks, and a small mark appears on the presenter's screen. Buy a licence and it unlocks immediately, in the same session.
Two machines
A licence activates on more than one computer — the desktop at the studio and the laptop that travels are the normal case. If you replace a machine, release it from inside the app first, under About → Licence, and the seat is free again.
