Privacy Policy — Valendo
Effective date: 10 August 2026 Applies to: Valendo — A Teleprompter Suite, for Windows and macOS.
The short version
Valendo does not collect your data. There is no account to create, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no advertising. Your scripts, your media and your projects stay on your computer.
Four things reach the network, and every one of them is listed below. Nothing else leaves your machine.
1. Checking for a new version
When the app opens, it fetches one small file from valendo.app containing the number of the most recent published version. It sends no information about you, your script or your computer, and it downloads nothing else. The request times out after five seconds and, if it fails for any reason, the app carries on without a word.
We should be plain about the one thing this does reveal. Like any request over the internet, it necessarily carries the network address it came from, and our site is served through Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs of such requests for a short period as part of running and protecting the site. We do not use those logs to identify you, we do not combine them with anything else, and we do not sell or share them.
This check does not exist in the Mac App Store build. Updates there come from the App Store.
2. The local-network pages
Valendo can publish two pages on your local network, each behind its own switch in the app. Both are off every time the app starts — they never turn themselves on, not even when you reopen a project that was saved with them running.
- The reading page shows the script that is currently on air, so a presenter
can read from a phone or tablet on the same wi-fi. It is read-only.
- The command page lets one device control playback and edit the script. It
is protected by a six-digit passcode that is drawn fresh every time you turn the switch on. Five wrong attempts close the door until you turn it off and on again.
The app listens on a port you choose (7777 by default, anywhere from 1024 to 65535; if the one you pick is busy, it moves to the next free one). It listens on your local network only. Nothing is sent to us or to any third party, and nothing is reachable from the internet unless you deliberately expose it through your own router.
A device connecting to the command page supplies a name, so that whoever is at the desk can see who is holding the controls. That name lives in memory only: it is never written to disk, never included in a saved project, and disappears the moment you turn the switch off or close the app.
3. The clipboard
When you copy the network address from the app, Valendo writes that text to your system clipboard. It writes only — the app never reads your clipboard.
4. Licence activation — paid versions
To unlock a paid tier, the app has to confirm your purchase. What happens depends on where you bought it.
Bought from us or from a reseller (Windows and direct sales): the app sends your licence key and the name of your computer to Lemon Squeezy, our payment processor and merchant of record, which answers with the status of the licence and the email address used to buy it. The computer name is sent so that you can recognise your own machines in your Lemon Squeezy account and release one when you replace it. The key, the email and the confirmation are stored on your computer so the app keeps working offline.
Bought through the Mac App Store: the purchase is handled entirely by Apple. Valendo receives only Apple's confirmation that the purchase exists. We are not told who you are.
Lemon Squeezy processes payment and billing data under its own privacy policy; we never see your card details. The same is true of Apple.
5. Your files
Scripts, projects (.valendo), imported documents and video files stay where you put them. Images added as cards are copied into the app's own folder on your computer so that a project keeps working if the original is moved. None of it is uploaded anywhere.
6. No camera, no microphone, no location
Valendo does not request, use or have access to your camera, your microphone or your location.
7. Children
Valendo is a professional broadcast tool and is not directed at children. Since it collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children.
8. Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to show, correct, export or delete on request. Everything the app knows about you is on your own computer, and you can remove it by uninstalling the app and deleting its data folder.
For purchase records, Lemon Squeezy (or Apple, for App Store purchases) is the data controller, and requests should go to them.
9. Changes to this policy
If a future version of Valendo sends something new over the network, this page will say so before that version ships, and the effective date above will change.
